Journalists Invited to Investigate Conflict between Muslims and Christians in Georgia
Georgian NGOs in the field of media «Go Group Media» invites working journalists in the Caucasus region for a 4-day expedition to investigate tensions between Muslims and Christians that have arisen in Georgia recently.
As part of the expedition there will be visits to two regions, Adjaria, where the construction of the minaret of a mosque and its subsequent demolition took place, sparking controversy and protests from both communities, as well as in the Kvemo Kartli region, where there is a conflict between Christians and Muslims.
Journalists will be able to see the situation on the spot, mingle with the locals and listen to them, and also to talk with experts and representatives of the government.
The journalistic expedition is being organized with the support of the Finnish Foundation VIKES and will be held September 19-22. Ten participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and the republics of the North Caucasus are to be selected as a result of a competition, with the entire trip costs (transportation, hotel, meals) paid.
Those interested can send an e-mail indicating the place of work and professional experience. Appeals should be sent to the address: maka.tsnobiladze@gogroupmedia.net
More information about the expedition can be found at the web page «Go Group»: www.gogroupmedia.net -0 -

The absence of a minimum turnout threshold in Azerbaijan's electoral laws means that this level of participation is sufficient to validate the results.
