Karabakh separatists reject the idea of American co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group

The “Foreign Ministry”  of  Nagorno Karabakh made a statement in  which rejected the idea of  the conflict resolution, proposed by James Warlick, the U.S. co-chairman  of the  OSCE Minsk  Group.

"We consider it necessary to note that the position of the Nagorno Karabakh regarding  the prospects of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict remains unchanged.  There cannot be even a tlk about the return to the past. The fate of Nagorno-Karabakh has been defined by its people through a free and legitimate expression of the will in a referendum on independence in 1991. Independence and security of Nagorno-Karabakh are exceptional values that are not subject to any bargaining. We believe that the joint efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group should focus on the development of such mechanisms of settlement , which take into  account the existing realities,"  reads the statement.

The statement of the Armenian Defense Minister, Seyran Ohanyan, is  similar, he said that  Armenia will fight for every inch of ground , and is not going to return anything.

Six elements  of the settlement voiced  by Warlick imply gradual settlement, providing  for  initially return of  seven regions around Karabakh,  and Karabakh itself will receive a temporary status until a final settlement. At the same time, the Azerbaijani refugees should return to the occupied territories. -02D-
