Mammadyarov discusses with Burns the case of Safarova
The position of the USA on extradition and the release of Azerbaijani officer, Ramil Safarov, is not clear, said Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in a telephone conversation with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State William Burns.
Earlier, the U.S. President Barack Obama expressed "deep concern" about the fact of pardoning the Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, convicted in Hungary for the murder of an Armenian officer, and the State Department said that Azerbaijan expects clarification.
According to a diplomatic source, Mammadyarov said that the position of the USA is not clear to Azerbaijan, because it is the people of Azerbaijan which suffered ethnic cleansing; it is Armenia which should be condemned for the continued occupation of the Azerbaijani territories.-06В-
