Mammadyarov urged OIC members not to cooperate with Armenia
Baku/ 05.05.18 / Turan: "The bloody confrontation on the Palestine-Israel border caused our deep concern. We, the member countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, must make efforts to end this confrontation," stated Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in his speech at the 45th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the session began its work on May 5 in the capital of Bangladesh, the city of Dhaka. The two-day session is devoted to the topic "Islamic values for sustainable peace, Solidarity and Development".
The Minister noted that Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to this issue.
"Azerbaijan supports the solution of the Palestinian conflict on the basis of the principle of two states with the capital of the Palestinian state in East Jerusalem," Mammadyarov said, emphasizing the situation of the Muslims of Rohingya.
"The biggest refugee crisis in the world is the Muslims of Rohingya. Azerbaijan was one of the first states to send 100 tons of humanitarian aid to the Muslims of Rohingya, who suffered from mass violence of ethnic cleansing in 2017. We will continue to provide assistance to the needy," the minister said, noting Azerbaijan's concern over armed conflicts and the warrior in a number of OIC member countries.
In his speech, Elmar Mammadyarov also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He called on the OIC members not to cooperate with Armenia, which occupied 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh and seven districts.
"The United Nations and its Security Council which openly recognized Armenia as the occupier, the OIC resolutions should be a direct message to all Muslim countries wishing to develop relations with the occupiers. Because the occupation policy of Armenia is directed not only against the religious and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, but also against the general Islamic history and cultural heritage. " -0-
