Mishchenko: European integration of Ukraine is not reversible

Ukraine's foreign policy priorities will be European integration and territorial integrity of the country can not be a subject of discussion. This was the leitmotif of today's press conference, Ukrainian ambassador to Azerbaijan Alexander Mishchenko.
In recent years, in the Ukrainian society has been rapidly growing the number of supporters of European integration, and the majority of the population is for the signing of an association agreement with the EU.
But the unexpected decision of the government to refuse from it and turn 180 degrees caused mass protests.
"Viktor Yanukovych and his government were engaged in personal enrichment and ignored the problems of the country," said the ambassador.
The situation in Ukraine is now controlled by the legitimate authority in the face of Parliament, where the new majority will adopt the new government today .
Contrary to reports by some Russian media and certain forces of the Russian Federation, Ukraine does not have forces for separatism and the partition of the country, he said.
With regard to the Crimea, the parliament there does not raise the question of secession from Ukraine. Passions are being heated up by a certain group in the Crimean government.
According to the ambassador, the official Russian government does not raise the question of withdrawal of Crimea from Ukraine either.
If the Russian military base in the Crimea intervenes in the events, will Kiev decide to close it? In answering this question, the ambassador said that the parties fulfill their contractual obligations, and he does not think there will be any unfriendly steps from the Russian side. He added that Ukraine has the right to seek assistance from the international community.
According to the Budapest memorandum, in connection with the refusal of Kiev from nuclear weapons, the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine was guaranteed by the leading states of the world, including Russia . -06C -
