Moscow awaits answer from Baku and Yerevan to proposals on border delimitation
Baku/17.09.21/Turan: Russia expects Azerbaijan and Armenia to respond to proposals on border delimitation issues. This was stated at a briefing on Thursday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.
"We are closely monitoring the situation on certain sections of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The development of the situation, including near the village of Vorotan, once again confirms the urgency of launching the process of delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border as soon as possible with its subsequent demarcation throughout. Russian proposals in this regard have been submitted to Baku and Yerevan. We expect a response soon to finalize follow-uo actions. At the same time, we will continue our joint efforts with Azerbaijan and Armenia to unblock economic and transport ties in the region in line with the implementation of the trilateral agreements at the highest level," Zakharova declared answering questions from Armenian journalists who asked to assess the detention of Iranian trucks by the Azerbaijani military.
Note that the Armenian TV channels decided to take on the role of defenders of Russian interests. With end in view, they called on Zakharova to assess the actions of Baku that "violated" the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea by inviting foreign military personnel represented by Turkish special forces to take part in the naval exercises.
"As for the joint exercises of Azerbaijan and Turkey, the Russian position on this issue has been brought to the official Baku. Taking into account the fact that it was received with understanding by the Azerbaijani partners, I think it is possible to refrain from public comments. We are in contact with our Azerbaijani partners," Zakharova said.
Also, she did not comment on the accusations against the Azerbaijani armed forces on the violation of the ceasefire in Karabakh recommending that the issue be addressed to Russian peacekeepers. -02D-
