MPs demand to punish the Tariff Council
Baku/01.02.21/Turan: “A ghost is hanging over Azerbaijan - and this is the Tariff Council. Nobody knows who is there," announced today at a parliamentary meeting the head of the “Vahdat” party, MP Tair Karimli, commenting on the two-fold increase in tariffs for water and sewerage services. According to him, the Tariff Council arbitrarily raises prices and no one gives an explanation to the society.
“I think that we must urgently abolish the Tariff Council,” Karimli said, pointing out that the decisions of the Tariff Council provoke a rise in prices. “You cannot cast a shadow on the affairs conducted by the president,” Karimli said.
The head of the Civic Solidarity party, MP Sabir Rustamkhanli suggested calling the Tariff Council to parliament and demanding a report. The Tariff Council should explain on what grounds it raised the prices for gasoline and water.
* The Tariff Council was established in 2005 as a collegial state body of executive power to regulate prices (tariffs) for services and fees.-05D06-
