Muradverdiyev refutes Yeni Musavat
Akif Muradverdiyev, the former manager of the administration of the President who is currently under arrest, denied widespread news about his links with businessperson Vaghif Musayev, who was arrested a few days ago.
"This information is fiction of the newspaper Yeni Musavat. I do not have any connection with Musayev, I have not met with him and I do not know him in person," said Muradverdiyev through his lawyer Rashad Mirmehtizade. The media recently reported about the arrest of businessperson Vaghif Musayev, a former member of the party Milli Istiqlal (National Independence).Yeni Musavat connected Musayev's detention to his links with Muradverdiyev, Nijat Guliyev and the National Council.
The official media said that Musayev was arrested for possession of weapons.
Muradverdiyev was arrested June 20, 2013 at the Baku airport on charges of smuggling 40 gold coins. Muradverdiyev denied all allegations, claiming that the coins were planted.
The investigation department of DHS filed a criminal case under article 206.1 (smuggling). Muradverdiyev is a defendant and is under arrest.
According to unofficial data, the authorities arrest all those who funded or were willing to fund the National Council, which united the entire opposition in the presidential elections. -03B04-
