National Council set priorities for 2014 (UPDATED)

The National Council of Democratic Forces ( NCDF) at its meeting on January 16 approved the main priorities of the organization for 2014.

They considered it a priority to create an effective system of protection of rights of persons arrested for political reasons - opposition party members , youth activists , journalists, believers, and their release.

NCDF intends to monitor processes in the social life of the country and to inform the public about the steps of the authorities which adversely affect the standard of living of the population.

NCDF will hold an international conference to discuss ways to transition from authoritarianism to democracy with the participation of local and international experts and intellectuals.

NCDF also plans to develop electoral strategy aimed at ensuring free and fair elections: seek to improve the electoral legislation and achieve the formation of election commissions on a parity basis.

NCDF intends to organize a systematic work to ensure the fundamental rights and freedoms , including freedom of speech , expression and assembly .

It is also expected to take steps to increase citizen participation in social networks, strengthening the role of civil society in the democratic process.

NCDF is going to identify effective forms of struggle in order to accelerate the reform of administrative management .

NCDF also plans to promote the European integration of Azerbaijan and to adopt a program for consistent implementation of the objectives of the Eastern Partnership in Azerbaijan.

It is supposed to effectively support the power of the media and social networking to expose and combat corruption and monopoly .

NCDF will also continue to expose the international organizations, whose observation missions gave positive feedback about the rigged presidential election and to use the opportunity of the Diaspora.

NCDF intends to continue to improve organizational structures, strengthen mass outreach and expand cooperation with civil society.

The session formed the Coordinating Council, which will lead NCDF between sessions .

The CC included Jamil Hasanli (Chairman of NCDF) , Rustam Ibrahimbekov (honorary chairman) , Ali Kerimli, Mehriban Vazir , Mehman Aliyev, Mirmahmud Miralioglu, Fuad Agayev, Leila Yunus , Rafig Manafly , Mirvari Gahramanli , Eldaniz Guliyev, Ibrahimli Ibrahimli, Kamil Veli Narimanoglu, Hajibaba Azimov, Nureddin Mustafayev, Vidadi Mirkamal, Gultekin Hajibeyli, Rovshan Ahmadli , Namizad Safarov and another place was given to the youth movement NIDA.

Eldar Namazov and Sulhaddin Akbar refused to join the CC, saying they plan to focus on the inner- building of the movement El ( transformed into a party ) and the party Open Society, which is created on the basis of the Free Democrats party . -06D-

Meeting of the National Council of Democratic Forces took place today in the office of the Popular Front. The theme of discussing was "Areas of activity of the National Council in 2014."

The document envisages intensifying discussions and preparation of proposals for solving socio-economic problems of the country , training election strategy , strengthening the foundations of civil society , protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens , etc.

During the discussions, it was proposed to  elect a Coordinating Council, and 19 candidates were nominated from among the members of the National Council.

It is assumed that the Coordinating Council (CC) will be an advisory body , which will discuss a common strategy and  coordinate decisions.

Previously, the idea of ??creating the CC was proposed by the head of "El" Movement, Eldar Namazov .

At 19:00 the  discussions of the CC continued. -02В-
