Novruz Mammadov Defines Parameters of "Right Course" in Foreign Policy
«If you are a small and rich Muslim country, it is difficult to defend your national and state interests and it becomes difficult to pursue an independent foreign policy," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov wrote on his Twitter page.
"But the country is subjected to pressure of various kinds from all sides, it means that the country is going the right direction," Mammadov made a profound conclusion.
We could assume that the status posted by Mammadov is a response to the international criticism of human rights violations in Azerbaijan.
"The right course" is probably the presence of political prisoners in the country, the persecution of civil society, arrests of journalists and others.
According to human rights organizations, currently there are 80 political prisoners in Azerbaijan, including more than 20 "prisoners of conscience". -03D-
