PACE Session Opens in Strasbourg
Today in Strasbourg the PACE autumn session opened. The agenda includes debate on Russia's obligations and commitments, the humanitarian crisis in Syria, the debate on the definition of the term "political prisoner", and other issues.
Members will also hold a debate on the right to enjoy freedom of choice in education in Europe, human rights and foreign policy.
The agenda also includes discussions on the general theme: "For a democratic election" and "good practices of gender equality in the political parties." They also obtained a request for the current debate on the "Ramil Safarov" matter, but the final agenda of the Assembly will be approved today.
On October 3 the session will address the PACE rapporteur on political prisoners Strasser. His report is devoted to the definition of the term "political prisoner." A significant part of the report will focus on events and facts in Azerbaijan.
On Monday at 10:30 local time (13:30 Baku time) a press conference will be held by PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon. -02B-
