People in Nakhchivan demand an end to repression
Nakhchivan branch of the Public Chamber held a meeting devoted to the Khojaly tragedy and the political situation in the region. The discussions resulted in the adoption of two statements.
The first statement says that so far parliament and the government have not given sufficient political and legal assessment of the Khojaly tragedy. The statement authors believe that all events on Khojaly tragedy are in the nature of a false patriotism.
As for the second question, the socio-political situation in the country on the eve of the presidential elections is complicated. Authorities of Nakhchivan conduct reprisals against political activists, trying to keep the situation under control.
In particular, the authorities have targeted members of the Public Chamber, Ashraf Hasanov, who defended the rights of convicted employers Mamed Gurbanov and Nadir Mamedov. Intelligence agencies of Nakhchivan threaten other members of the Public Chamber.
In this regard, the authors of the statement demand to stop repression against ordinary citizens and members of the Public Chamber, warning of the possibility of social unrest. -05D04-
