Putin cuts his wage by 10%, now is the turn of Aliyev
On March 1 the Russian President Vladimir Putin cut his salary by 10%. The salary of the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev was also cut, according to Gazeta.ru, referring to the Kremlin.
"To pay from 1 March to 31 December 2015 to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation (...) cash award, a monthly cash promoting and encouraging quarterly cash to a decrease of 10%," the document says.
This gesture by Putin can be considered as a PR move in the face of growing impoverishment of the population of Russia, which entered a period of long-term economic crisis. The PR of the President is evidenced by the fact that just recently, on May 1, 2014 in terms of relative prosperity, Putin raised his and the premiere’s salary by 2.65 times and brought it to $ 5,600. Now, the Russian leader will receive by $600 less, $ 5040.
But, in any case, the Russians can be proud that the leader of the 1/9 of the land of the planet gets noticeably smaller than the head of a small Caucasian state of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who has by 3.27 times higher - $16.5 thousand. However, in December 2005 on the eve of his birthday Aliyev cut the presidential salary, which was $ 19.6 thousand, by 15.8%. Then the Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Building of the Parliament Ali Huseynov described the president's decision as "a testament to his modesty and high political culture."
It is not known yet how President Aliyevwill act, who is the highest paid president in CIS, now under worsening socio-economic crisis, the devaluation of the manat, and a significant drop in revenue population. The minimum wage in manat terms decreased as a result of the devaluation of the from $135 to $105, while the cost of living has fallen from $160 to $125. -0-
