R. Cekuta: Success of United States - in Democracy
Yesterday the US Embassy in Baku hosted a reception dedicated to the Independence Day of the United States, where on behalf of the Azerbaijani government a congratulatory message was made by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. This is the lowest level of representation of the government of Azerbaijan for such an event for nearly a quarter century of bilateral relations.
At the reception, there were no high-level representatives of the ruling party New Azerbaijan.
According to Ambassador Robert Cekuta, US Founding Fathers created a system that serves human well-being, peace and stability.
The Founders created a state in which human rights and government accountability to the people are provided.
The control system has allowed the United States 57 times to carry out a peaceful, democratic change of power. "This allowed us to meet various challenges. With this system, we have established a partnership for the sake of a more peaceful, well-maintained and stable world," Cekuta said.
To respond to new challenges cooperation exists between the people and government institutions, the Ambassador continued.
"In my opinion, America's success is based on this. The Americans are involved in the management through voting and public debate," said the Ambassador.
He further stressed that the US wants to establish strong positive relations with Azerbaijan.
"I am convinced that this will enable us to properly assess the developments and challenges in the promotion of dialogue and discussion and to assist in addressing current and future issues," he said.
In turn, the Azeri Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ismayil Ismayilov said the bilateral relations have developed in recent years in many areas, and especially in economy and security.
The two countries have cooperation against global and regional terrorism.
Ismayilov said he hoped that the United States, as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group will increase efforts to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.
He welcomed the work of American experts involved in the Operating Committee of the European Games. -03C06--
