Reaction in Baku to Pashinyans Statement on Nagorno-Karabakh
Baku / 08.05.18 / Turan: There is nothing new in the words of Nikol Pashinyan about the necessity of Karabakh separatists' participation in the negotiation process. This is an "old song", MP Rasim Musabekov said.
Commenting on today's statement of the new Armenian Prime Minister, he noted that the words of Pashinyan "have no significance." "He just shakes the air, and he does not have a team, and there is no person who will deal with his foreign policy."
In Armenia, there will be a transitional government for 2-3 more months and there will be no responsible politicians who could represent Yerevan at the negotiations on the Karabakh settlement.
On the other hand, Armenia will continue to face chaos and deepening contradictions with Russia and Azerbaijan should be ready for any development of the situation.
"Naturally, under the current conditions, Baku will never agree to the return of separatists to the negotiating table," Musabekov said. In his opinion, Baku can agree to a dialogue with the Karabakh Armenians regarding their status only after the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories.
In turn, the political scientist Hikmet Hajizadeh believes Pashinyan demonstrates "a completely unrealistic approach to the Karabakh settlement". Now he can say anything on the wave of populism. "Now it seems to him he will take both Karabakh and Mount Ararat from Turkey, and teach Russia a good lesson. But he will soon realize what confused problems are facing him. He still has to clarify his relations with Russia and deal with the oligarchs," Hajizadeh said. -06D--
