Russia Expects to Reach Agreement with Turkey on Syria
The normalization of relations between Turkey and Russia will have a positive impact on the overall situation in the region and will promote cooperation between Moscow and Ankara to find a solution of the Syrian problem. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the press conference in Baku.
After the President of Turkey wrote to the President of the Russian Federation and their phone conversation, the dialogue was continued at the beginning of July at the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of both countries in Sochi.
According to Lavrov, "all this will have a positive impact on the overall situation in the region, and, I hope, will help to more effectively search for joint approaches to overcome the Syrian crisis, according to which the Russian Federation and Turkey's positions are not close at all."
As Lavrov said, his "frank conversation" with Cavusoglu in Sochi can count on the fact that "now we will have less disagreement with our Turkish partners."
In his view, now Moscow and Ankara will try to "more openly agree on how to implement UN Security Council decisions and the decisions of the International Syria's support group."
As for the influence of the Russian-Turkish relations on the relationship between Russia and Azerbaijan, according to Lavrov, they "do not depend on any conditions, and the same approach is consistently shared by the leadership of Azerbaijan." "Any momentary has not ever affected the strategic relations between Moscow and Baku. Of course, the less problems in the region, the better for the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan," Lavrov said. -06C--
