The CEC did not notice an attempt to bribe and only warned Faraj Guliyev (Video)
Baku/05.02.20/Turan: The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan at a meeting on Wednesday issued a warning to the deputy candidate Faraj Guliyev for trying to bribe another candidate - Mehman Huseynov.
The latter filed a complaint with the CEC with a request to liquidate Guliyev’s registration. The CEC expert group examined the violation of the law and listened to the positions of both parties.
Faraj Guliyev in his explanation stated that he did not offer money to Huseynov, and the released record was editing.
In the end, the CEC decided to issue a warning to Faraj Guliyev.
At the same time, the head of the CEC, Mazahir Panahov, said that "this is not a final decision." According to him, the prosecutor’s office is also investigating the incident and the final decision will be made taking into account the results of the prosecutor’s investigation.
The latter offered Huseynov 15,000 manats to withdraw his candidacy from the parliamentary elections on February 9.
Independent lawyers unequivocally stated that Guliyev’s acts contained a crime and his candidacy should be eliminated. -16D-

On Monday, the Baku Appeals Court considered the appeal of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov against the extension of his detention for another four months. The defense argued that the decision to extend Abilov's detention was unjustified, lawyer Fariz Namazly told reporters.
