On 13 November the Absheron District Court will begin trial over Nigar Yagublu, a young activist of "Musavat" party. She is accused of an accident in August of this year, resulting in the death of Aydin Adzhalov, a member of the Assembly of "Musavat" party. Press conference of the Committee to protect the rights of Yagublu took place on Monday, in the Media Centre. Head of the Committee, Mehriban Vazir, called pre-trial arrest of Yagublu a political discrimination, because for such cases on rd accidents the accused are not arrested.
Lawyer Elton Guliyev expressed the view that the investigation actually did not investigate the case, and he would plead the case remanded for further investigation. He also believes that there is not need to arrest Yagublu, because she does not hide from the investigation.
It was told at the press conference that 10 deputies appealed to court with request to release Yagublu.
Second lawyer, Adil Ismailov said that the investigation did not investigate the third car that caused the accident. He called the violation of the law that the judge Ilham Rahimli, who arrested Yagublu, will consider the case. Members of the Committee for the rights of Yagublu believe that she had been arrested for political reasons in connection with her opposition activity. -05C-
