Trump’s adviser for national security about Scandinavian peacekeepers in Karabakh
Baku/31.10.20/Turan: At a meeting with the Armenian community of Los Angeles yesterday, Trump’s adviser for national security, Robert O'Brien, unexpectedly announced that the United States wants to agree on the deployment of "Scandinavian peacekeepers" in Karabakh, the BBC reports.
“We believe that both sides should agree to the deployment of Scandinavian peacekeepers, and we are working with Scandinavian governments to form a peacekeeping force that could be deployed in the region and maintain the truce,” said O'Brien, whose speech was posted on Facebook by the Armenian channel Horizon Armenian TV.
So far, there have been no comments from the belligerents, international mediators, or the Scandinavian countries.
Azerbaijan does not agree to the introduction of peacekeepers, and behind it in this issue is the decisive word, since the war is going on in its internationally recognized territory. Presidential elections will be held in three days in the United States, and there are many voters of Armenian origin in the United States. —0-
