Utility workers report that Baku is ready for the winter season, however ...
Baku/25.12.20/Turan: The public services of the city of Baku are fully ready for the winter season, the Baku Executive Power told Turan. In all districts of the capital, measures have been taken to prepare for the autumn-winter period. Responsible persons have been appointed for each district of the city, and monitoring is underway.
In the event of a heavy snowfall, special equipment from the City Department of Housing and Communal Services, as well as other departments, will be involved in clearing the roads. The creation of a headquarters is envisaged to coordinate this work. In addition, reserves of salt and sand have been created to combat icy roads.
Since spring, the Azerigaz PA has also taken measures for sustainable gas supply to the population in the winter, the head of the public relations department of this structure Jeyhun Safarov told Turan.
Over 11 months of 2020, 1,361 km of new gas pipelines were laid, and 554 km were repaired. Regarding the facts of reducing the gas pressure in the network, Safarov urged subscribers to appeal to the call centers at 104 and 185 to take action. If citizens fail to reach these numbers, they can send messages to WhatsApp at 077 310 4104.
In turn, Azerishig reported that measures were taken to ensure uninterrupted and trouble-free operation of substations, distribution installations, cable and overhead power lines, said Vagif Aydinoglu, head of Azerishig's press service.
In case of problems, please call 199 to the round-the-clock emergency service. In turn, an expert on social issues Ilgar Huseynli believes that communal services were not ready for the winter period not only in Baku, but throughout the country.
“There are serious problems with heating and gas supply in the settlements around Baku. In a number of places in the Binagadi district of the capital, there is no gasification at all. The reason is the disputed territories where housing was built. Azerigaz refuses to gasify them as the land belongs to SOCAR.
There are also problems in the districts, as, for example, in the Khalfali municipality of the Imishli region, which unites three villages with a population of 10 thousand people. Gasification has not yet been completed there,” the expert said. -06D-

September 27 is observed as Memorial Day in Azerbaijan — a day of deep national reflection and commemoration of the fallen heroes. This date immortalizes those who gave their lives in the 44-day war of 2020, which was crucial in the liberation of the occupied territories surrounding the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region, including the Hadrut district and the city of Shusha. The restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity became the most significant outcome of this war.
