Vahid Ahmadov: New Devaluation Was Late
The floating rate of AZN had to be entered when the currency stock was still considerable, and not now. This is how the new devaluation and floating rate of the manat was commented for Turan IA by the MP and economist Vahid Ahmedov.
"If it was done this summer, at the beginning of the fall in oil prices, there would be no need to move to a floating exchange rate, and foreign currency reserves would not decrease from 15 to 5 billion," said the MP.
In his view, this step will affect all – prices will rise and inflation will increase. At the same time the MP believes that the exchange rate announced by the Central Bank is not critical, as it is necessary to wait for the reaction of other banks to the decision.
In February this year, the dollar rose from 78 kopecks per USD to 1.05 manat. -05B04-
