Following the approval on 19 October by the Plenum of the Constitutional Court the results of presidential election held on October 9, 2013, Ilham Aliyev took the oath.
He swore to follow the constitution of the Constitution and laws of the country, and swore on the Koran to protect the moral values of the Azerbaijani people. Thus, Ilham Aliyev has come to the third term of the head of Azerbaijan.
This is the first oath, brought by Ilham Aliyev after making changes and additions to the Constitution of Azerbaijan at the March 2009 referendum. According to tradition, the swearing ceremony was attended state officials, government officials , parliamentarians, as well as the head of the Caucasus Muslims Department Allahshukur Pashazade.
According to Article 103 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic, the person elected as President shall take the oath within three days after the announcement of the election results.
At the presidential elections in October 15, 2003 Ilham Aliyev won more than 76 %, and was elected president of Azerbaijan. On October 24 of the same year, the Plenum of the Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the election. Ilham Aliyev sworn in seven days after the decision of the Plenum of the Constitutional Court, that is, on October 31, 2003.
In the presidential elections of 2008, the Plenum of the Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the election on October 22, stating that Ilham Aliyev won 88.73 % of votes. Two days after the approval the election results, that is, on October 24, 2008 , Ilham Aliyev took the oath.
The difference of the present inauguration is that in 2003 and 2008 a swearing-in ceremony took place at the Palace named after Heydar Aliyev with the participation of foreign dignitaries; but this time the ceremony was held quickly and modestly in the hall of the Parliament. -16d04-

Negotiations at the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Baku have been extended until November 24, a source in the UNFCCC Secretariat told the Turan news agency. According to the source, participants aim to finalize and sign the concluding documents by that date.

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.

On November 22, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding a peace treaty in an interview with Public TV. In particular, he emphasized that society should move away from certain stereotypes. “We are outraged when we hear the term ‘Western Azerbaijan.’ But we don’t think that when we say ‘Western Armenia,’ it also irritates anyone,” he stated.
