Why Obama Did Not Congratulate Participants of Baku Oil & Gas Exhibition?

At the moment, negotiations are continuing on the date of the creation of a joint US-Azerbaijani commission on human rights, democracy and civil society, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta told the media, recalling an agreement on this issue during the visit of Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland to Baku in February 2015.

The Ambassador stressed that the relations between the two countries are based on three main priorities: democracy, security and economy, which are equally significant.

On Turan’s question, why for the first time in the 20 years of the Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition the US President did not send his greetings to the participants, the Ambassador replied: "Our country has assisted Azerbaijan in the production and transportation of oil and now gas for more than 20 years. This is the laying of pipelines and the delivery of hydrocarbons to consumers. We are working closely in this area, and our country highly appreciates Azerbaijan's role in this field."

Cekuta’s talk with reporters took place at a reception held on the occasion of the XXII International Exhibition and Conference Caspian Oil and Gas 2015 organized by the US and British Embassies. -03C06-
