Will there be Russian armed forces base in Berd region?
Baku/05.07.22/Turan: A military base has been under construction for a month on the territory of a former airfield near the village of Aygepar in Armenia's Berd region, Radio Liberty's Armenian service reports.
On June 17, the Armenian government signed a protocol "On the Dislocation Points of the Russian Military Base on the Territory of Armenia".
According to the locals, a unit of Russian troops from the 102nd base in Gyumri will be stationed there. This is indirectly confirmed by the presence of Russian military servicemen among the managers of the construction site.
The Armenian Defense Ministry says nothing about the nature of the object under construction, the number of military personnel and the purpose of the object.
Note that the village of Aygepar is located one kilometer from the Azerbaijani village of Alibeyli in the Tovuz region.
The Armenian population hopes that the arrival of Russian troops will guarantee their security. -02D-
