Zakir Hasanov Tells European Envoy about Possible War
Baku / 19.02.18 / Turan: On the front line in a state of constant confrontation there are two armies, and it is possible that the war can begin at any moment. Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov stated this at a meeting with the EU representative in the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Toivo Claar.
The press service of the Defense Ministry said the meeting discussed the situation on the front line. Zakir Hasanov reminded that the territories of Azerbaijan recognized by the international community are under the occupation of Armenia, and the negotiation process is still unsuccessful. He noted that the international structures should not deal with the investigation of the consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but with the elimination of the root causes that created it and make efforts to fully resolve the conflict.
T. Klaar noted the importance of an early peaceful settlement of the conflict to ensure stability in the region. The EU supports the continuation of negotiations in this direction, the European envoy said. --0---
