Amendments to the Law "On Road Traffic" come into force
Today the amendments to the Law "On Road Traffic" on surface and underground pedestrian crossings have come into force. The corresponding decree was signed by the Head of State on the basis of the decision of the Milli Majlis at the plenary meeting on 28 April.
The changes affected Article 9.1 of the law, according to which, pedestrian crossings on roads should be close to schools, health facilities, major shopping (production, servicing) centers, stops, sports, tourist attractions and recreational facilities, and other facilities where there is a massive gathering of people. When the road crossing on the footpath (Zebra) shall be governed by traffic lights are determined by the relevant executive authority.
Surface and underground pedestrian crossings in areas of highways, passing through settlements should be at 400-800 meters distance from each other. The distance between the pedestrian crossings on other roads passing through settlements, should be 150-300 meters (except in cases where the distance between the intersections less).
According to the amendments, surface and underground pedestrian crossings should be constructed and on other roads, where the width of the carriageway is greater than 14 meters, the flow of pedestrians is more than 3,000 persons per hour, and the traffic flow is more than 300 vehicles per hour. --17D-
