An expert on the causes of heavy road accidents recently
Baku / 03.10.18 / Turan: The reason for the frequent traffic accidents with serious consequences in the professionalism of drivers and their non-compliance with the traffic rules, said transport expert Arshad Huseynov. Baku has no established public transport system that meets modern requirements. The exception is the company "BakuBus", but it owns only 300 of the 2000 passenger buses of the capital. Other carriers do not comply with the rules and requirements of passenger traffic. For many route owners, the main thing is to maximize revenue. Therefore, drivers are taxed with high plans, and those no longer think about safety and violate traffic rules.
Other causes of accidents are lack of road infrastructure, lack of pedestrian pavements or their seizure, incorrect marking of roads.
As for the terrible accident on October 1 in the village of Bina, where the bus collided with a train, this is an indicator of the entire complex of shortcomings and the wrong organization of railway traffic, Huseynov said.
"The video of the accident shows that there was not even a barrier there. The same situation is at several other railway crossings in the city. To improve the situation, comprehensive measures are needed at the government level," he noted.
On September 30, near Sumgayit, 4 people were killed and another 14 were injured as a result of a collision of a bus with a truck. On October 1, two people died in an accident involving a bus and a train, another 34 were injured. -16C06-
