Appeals Court dismisses the complaint on the Hashimli against the National Security Ministry (NSM)
On December 23 the Baku Court of Appeal considered the appeal of journalist Parviz Hashimli against the court's decision refusing his transference from prison of the to prison of the National Security Ministry (NSM) to the jail of the Penitentiary Service.
Hashimli said that in the jail of the NSM he is subjected to physical and psychological pressure. However, on December 13 Sabail Court rejected his appeal to transfer him to the jail of the Penitentiary Service.
On Monday Hashimli was again taken to the Court of Appeal , accompanied by six men in black masks , Turan was told by the lawyer Yalcin Imanov. At trial Hashimli reported that on December 13 after the trial he was brought to the MNS, and put in solitary confinement, for his statement in court that "the MNS rape laws."
According to the lawyer , Hashimli was undressed and kept in the punishment cell for four hours, where the journalist got cold. Because of sharp deterioration of Hashimli’s health, the next day he was returned to an ordinary cell.
The employees of the jail of the NSM regularly violate the rights of Hashimli to meet relatives and telephone conversations.
* Parviz Hashimli was arrested on September 17 on charges of illegal possession of weapons and contraband. He denies the charges and believes that he was arrested in connection with journalistic and human rights activities.
Hashimli is an employee of the newspaper "Bizim Yol" and the head of the site moderator.az. In addition, he is the head of the Center to Protect Political and Civil Rights. --06B-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
