Arrest of Rahim Veliyev to Be Appealed (updated)
Against the administrative arrest of the NIDA activist Rahim Veliyev an appeal will be filed, the lawyer Javad Javadov told Turan.
He said that, according to the court, Veliyev was arrested not for 15 days, as previously reported, but for 30.
The decision of the Narimanov District Court alleges that Veliyev did not obey the requirements of the police, who demanded his papers.
In this case, after the arrest Veliyev was not allowed contact with his family, and in court he was defended by the state attorney.
The lawyers Javadov and Elchin Sadigov will present the appeal today. As Javadov explained, according to the law, the complaint should be treated immediately after admission, even on weekends. -06B--

An activist of the NIDA movement Rahim Veliyev was today arrested for 30 days. As Turan was told in NIDA, the young man was detained on Monday morning, when he went out to buy bread.
Later it became known that Veliyev is in the 18th Police Precinct of the Narimanov district. At the same time police officers visited his home and seized the activist’s mobile phone and laptop. All this time his family was not told the reasons for his detention.
In the evening, the young man called home and said he had been arrested administratively for 30 days and is in the Binagadi prison. He did not have time to tell them the details, including exactly what he was accused of.
The NIDA movement believes Veliyev was arrested for political reasons. In the statement, the organization refers to the latest status of the young man on Facebook.
In this publication, Veliyev noted that "the authorities deprive young people of all - education, health, future, independence and other values." "Not satisfied with these stolen, they continue to steal our friends. Each of us can be abducted. But we are not afraid, because we have nothing to lose ... Let embezzlers fear, while we will require a report for what they have stolen." -06B ---
