Azerbaijan seized $107 million worth drugs in 2022
Baku/22.12.22/Turan: In January-November 2022, 10,281 drug-related crimes were registered in Azerbaijan. Out of them 3,367 were related to illegal sale of drugs, 6,425 - to illegal purchase and storage of drugs.
These data are contained in the report of the State Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illegal Drug Trafficking for 11 months of 2022, released on December 22.
In the reviewed period, 5 tons 252 kg and 36,427 units of narcotic drugs and 2,514 psychotropic pills were seized, including 2 tons 076 kg of heroin, 1 ton 955 kg of marijuana, etc.
Total value of the seized drugs from illicit trafficking was made up AZN 182, 4 millions (over $107 million).
Note that the 87 foreigners - 41 citizens of Iran, 18 - Russian Federation, 12 - Turkey, 9 - Georgia, 2 - Turkmenistan, 2 - Ukraine, 1 each - Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Maldives were brought to criminal responsibility for drug crimes. -05В06-

Today, on September 26, a meeting is expected in New York between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding peace negotiations. The meeting is set to take place with the participation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The Secretary will bring the ministers together at a hotel in New York as part of the annual session of the UN General Assembly. This will be Blinken's second trilateral meeting with them on U.S. soil within three months. The last time the three diplomats met was during the NATO summit in Washington on July 10 of this year.
