The 42nd World Chess Olympiad has finished in Baku. Among men, the US team was the winner and the second and third places were occupied by the teams of Ukraine and Russia.
Among women the first place was taken by the Chinese team, the second - by Poland, and the third – by Ukraine.
Contrary to the hopes and optimistic statements by the Ministry of Sports of Azerbaijan, the male and female teams of the country left without medals. The performance of the male team was a complete failure, because they did not even enter the top ten, finishing at the 12th place.
