On April 3 the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree "On the provision of one-time financial assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, widows of the fighters killed or those who died later, and persons awarded orders and medals for their selfless labor in the rear".
According to the document, the participants of the war will be paid one-time financial assistance in the amount of 800 manat (about 763 US dollars).
A lump sum of 400 manat (about 361 USD) will be paid to the widows of the fighters killed in the Second World War or those who died later, those awarded orders and medals for their selfless labor in the rear; employees of special forces performing missions in the interests of the army and navy, those awarded the appropriate medal and badge for the defense of Leningrad, as well as the participants of the blockade of Leningrad.
For these purposes AZN 8.3 million (approximately 7.9 million USD) has been allocated from the Presidential Reserve Fund.
Last year by the Victory Day the war veterans were given one-time financial assistance in the amount of 700 manat (about $ 900 at the then exchange rate).
A lump sum of 300 manat (about 385 dollars) was paid to widows of those killed in the Second World War or those who died later, home front workers, persons awarded the appropriate medal and badge for the defense of Leningrad, as well as participants in the siege of Leningrad.
