Capital of Azerbaijan and Entire Regions without Power
The supply of electricity was cut off in various regions of the country in the early morning of September 28 due to an accident at the transmission line from Mingechevir Hydro, which is located in the west of the country.
The backbone transmission line was disabled due to lightning. This in turn led to the automatic blocking of hydropower units.
Work is currently underway to address the effects of the accident. The supply of electricity should resume in the afternoon.
Baku Metro did not work, leading to traffic congestion on the roads. There were also power outages in homes, but normal electricity supply is being restored - power lines are being transferred to alternative sources such as the hydroelectric power station in the North. However, the accident showed the abnormal functioning of the country's electricity. Such accidents also occurred in the past, but apparently no conclusions were made. -0 -
