Citizen of Azerbaijan Arrested for False Call about Bomb in Batumi
Baku / 12.04.19 / Turan: Patrol police detained a 28-year-old man, a citizen of Azerbaijan, in Batumi on charges of false reporting on an explosion threat. The Adjara television reported this with reference to the local police.
According to the investigation, the accused, whose name has not been named, called the service 112 on March 31 and stated that an explosive device had been mounted in the casino of the Batumi Sheraton Hotel. It was found that during the call he was in the casino himself.
Because of the anonymous call, the police had to evacuate people from the hotel. For several hours the hotel and casino were closed, but the sappers and dog handlers did not find the bomb. The hotel resumed normal operation after inspection.
In the event of proof of the guilt of the detained Azerbaijani citizen, he faces a prison sentence of up to 7 years. -02D-
