Civil society is waiting for a pardon
«As always, we have great expectations from the upcoming orders, but another question whether they will become true," said Novella Jafaroglu, the head of the Women Rights Protection Society, a member of the Joint Working Group on Human Rights, commenting on the imminent pardon on the eve of Novruz.
She noted that the list of political prisoners compiled by the Monitoring group of human rights organizations, have been submitted to the Commission on issues of pardons. According to some reports, it includes several hundred candidates for a pardon. Thus, since the beginning of March the Commission on Pardons considered more than 400 appeals, and lists including about 300 people have been presented the head of state.-05B-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
