Consideration of the appeal of Intigam Aliyev
Consideration of the appeal of the convicted human rights defender Intigam Aliyev is scheduled in Baku Appeal Court for 6 July, wrote on his Facebook page a lawyer Javad Javadov. Aliyev was arrested in August 2014. On 22 April the Baku Serious Crime Court sentenced him to 7.5 years in prison. He was found guilty of illegal business, tax evasion, misappropriation, official forgery, and abuse of office. Aliyev denies the charges and believes that he is being persecuted for political reasons in connection with the human rights and advocacy.
