Court Extends House Arrest of 76-year-old Mother of Huseyn Abdullayev
Baku / 17.08.18 / Turan: The Nasimi District Court of Baku extended the measure of restraint in the form of house arrest against 76-year-old Zeynab Abdullayeva, the mother of former MP, businessman Huseyn Abdullayev, for another two months on August 17.
Turan was informed about this by individuals close to the Abdullayev family. The fact of the trial was also confirmed by the assistant to the judge of the Nasimi court, Shalala Hasanova, who decided to extend the term of house arrest. The court representative abstained from other comments.
According to local media, Z. Abdullayeva is being accused of a case being investigated by the Nasimi district police department of Baku.
She is charged under art. 326.1 (destruction, damage or concealment of official documents, stamps or seals for official or other personal purposes) and 318.2 (illegal crossing of borders in an organized criminal group) of the Criminal Code.
Former pro-government MP Huseyn Abdullayev emigrated from Azerbaijan in 2013 and criticized the country's authorities. After that, a criminal case was initiated against him on a tax charge. On April 22, he was detained in Turkey and extradited to Azerbaijan.
Abdullayev was also charged under art. 192.2.2 (illegal business with the extraction of large income), 178.2.1 (fraud), 178.2.2, 178.2.4, 182.2.1 (extortion by threat in prior collusion), 182.2.2 (the same actions committed repeatedly) and 182.2.4 (the same actions committed with causing serious damage to the victim). -03C06-
