Baku / 28.05.19 / Turan: The police took unprecedentedly strengthened security measures in the Baku suburb of Novkhany, where today opposition organizations plan to hold festive rallies on the occasion of the Republic Day near the monument to Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh.
The head of the office of the Musavat Party, Gulaga Aslanly, was told in the village that the forces of the Rapid Response Regiment were tightened.
The police took control of the roads leading to the monument.
Never before on the Republic Day did the police take such heightened security measures, Aslanly said.
As the head of the press service of Musavat reported, 4 opposition activists were detained on their way to the festive event.
Currently, the Musavat rally is being held near the Rasulzadeh monument.
On May 28, 1918, the Azerbaijan People"s Republic (APR) was proclaimed. It existed until April 28, 1920.
