Elchibey Brother Rejects Poisoning Version
Almurad Aliyev, the brother of the late former President Abulfaz Elchibey, said that he had never heard from his brother that he was poisoned. "There was not such a conversation. Abulfaz never told me anything like that," said Almurad, commenting on the lawsuit filed at the Prosecutors Office in Baku on the attempted murder, (poisoning), Elchibey. Aliyev said the Prosecutor Office had not informed him of the criminal case, but learned it from the media.
"I was not called in for the investigation. Let them file a lawsuit. The state has the authority, if they want, let them file at least 100 lawsuits," said Aliyev.
The Prosecutor Office filed a lawsuit based on statements made by the infamous leader of «Modern Musavat" party, Hafiz Hajiyev, who argues Elchibey, before his death, told him he was poisoned by the current leader of Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli. Kerimli and other opposition leaders regard it as a provocation by authorities on the eve of the2013 presidential election.—03B06-
