Elchin Ismayilli is accused in the case of "Gülen`s supporters?"
Baku Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal on the arrest of journalist Elchin Ismayilli, said his lawyer Elchin Sadigov. The complaint was filed on the decision of the Nasimi District Court on February 18 about the arrest of Ismayilli in connection with the indictment of extortion by threats. The investigation alleges that the journalist allegedly was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of 1,000 manat from an employee of the Department of Tourism of Ismayilly region. In court, the journalist again rejected the accusation, saying that the official said was his old friend, and he asked a debt. His arrest was ordered by the head of the region whom Elchin repeatedly criticized.
Defense intends to file an application for replacement of arrest to house arrest. The lawyer also pointed out that the number of criminal proceedings against a journalist coincides with the criminal case on the investigation of illegal actions of the Movement "Khizmat" on which are accused activists of the PPFA Fuad Ahmadli and Faig Amirov. The investigation has not yet explained what is the relationship between E.Ismailly and the case "against supporters of the “Khizmat” Movement, the lawyer said.—06D--
