Examination Revealed No Drug Dependence among Arrested Activists
The rights of the young activists Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov, who painted the monument to Heydar Aliyev on May 10, have been violated. After his arrest, they were accused of drug trafficking and put in jail. Since then, Ibrahimov received only two meetings with relatives and Mammadov is not given such a meeting, said their lawyer Elchin Sadigov. Although, according to the law, prisoners have the right to meet once a week.
On 5 and 12 July the two young men passed drug testing, which found that they do not use drugs.
At the same time, the investigation rejected the defense motion to hold a fingerprint examination of the cellophane bags, which, according to the investigators, belong to the arrested, and approve and compare the results with the fingerprints of the accused. Therefore, the defense once again will raise the issue during the trial.
Despite the fact that on May 12 the young people complained of torture during detention in police custody, and the court decided to investigate their complaint, the investigation failed to conduct the proceedings.
The defense believes that this evidence is sufficient to view the video surveillance cameras in the police departments, in which young people were held on May 10-12. The defense is going to raise the issue in the court, too. -06C06--

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
