The health of the arrested CFO of the newspaper Azadlig Faig Amirov has deteriorated. He suffers from a stomach ulcer and the disease has escalated after the arrest. He has been unable to eat for two days, the lawyer Fakhraddin Mehdiyev told Turan.
The lawyer intends to inform international organizations about Amirov’s disease and put forward a motion to change the preventive measure.
Mehdiyev said there is no sense in Amirov’s transfer to the prison hospital, because he needs a special diet.
Amirov was arrested in August 2016 on charges of having links with the Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen, who was announced organizer of the coup attempt in Ankara on July 15 last year.
Amirov is specifically charged under Article 168.1 (infringement of human rights under the pretext of performing religious rites) and 283.2.2 (incitement of religious hatred).
He and democratic public call the accusations absurd.
The real reason for his arrest was to disrupt the work of the opposition newspaper Azadlig. -06D--
