Fire at Heydar Aliyev Center is almost extinguished (VIDEO)

 

Fire at Heydar Aliyev Center  has been almost  extinguished by 13:15,  according to  Turan correspondent. In order to prevent a fire  of smoldering pockets, helicopters continue to dump tons of water from the air. However, strong wind  is causing  troubles  the work of firefighters aviators.

Meanwhile, a group of firefighters climbed onto the roof of the building and dismantle charred surface. According to the workers who were inside the building, the fire happened as result of short circuit in the electrical network on the roof of the building.

      According to preliminary data, nobody was hurt as a result of fire. Experts of the Ministry for Emergency Situations arrived to the scene to  investigate the cause of the fire.

        The vice-premier Yagub Eyubov, Abid Sharifov, Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov, the ministers of transport, health, deputy interior minister are also on the scene. However, none of the officials comment on the fire—03C06--

Fire which began around 11:00 am on the roof of the  Heydar Aliyev Center,  has been localized  by  dozens of  fire brigades. Helicopters have been brought to  extinguish fire,  according to Turan correspondent  reporting form the scene. 

     All roads and approaches to the building are covered,  ambulances have arrived to the scene. Residents of several nearby homes, left their apartments. Putting out the fire  is difficult  because of the complicated architecture of the building of his great height.

    Residents of the surrounding houses have reported that the inflammation has begun on the roof of the building, and the flames were visible for several miles. After that, thick, black smoke covered  and  hid the building.

    Extinguishing the fire severely damaged the interior decoration  of the Center, as tons of water have been spilled onto the roof of the building.  Extinguishing fire is ongoing, and it is   difficult to say how long  it will last. Officials do not give comments  about the cause of the fire.

    Center ** Heydar Aliyev was inaugurated on the eve of the contest "Eurovision"; it  was  built on the same-name avenue on the territory of the former  plant  named Sattarkhan. Construction began in 2007, the author of the project  is  the British architect Zaha Hadid. Center resembles the frozen wave and consists of three interlocking parts.

     A park was laid  in the area  covering  ​​several acres. As conceived by the authorities, this architectural monument should symbolize the emerging modern Azerbaijan.

     The center consists of a large hall, meeting rooms, library, etc. The total area  is ​​more than 90,000 square meters.   The center is intended for research, conferences, symposia, cultural events.

    Authorities do not reveal  the sum spent on the  project. According to experts, the project cost is at least $ 300 million, taking into account the demolition of five adjacent houses, the construction of the park, etc.

    The  author of the  project , Zaha Hadid,  is one of the most famous modern architects in Europe. She was born in Iraq in 1950, and later moved to the UK. In 2004 she was awarded Pittskerov Prize for achievements in the field of architecture.

    Among her most famous works are: the Hotel "Puerta America" ​​in Madrid, central building factory BMW in Leipzig, Museum of Art in Copenhagen,  Contemporary Art Center in Cincinnati, Design of a world tour  of the group Pet Shop Boys, the interior of the restaurant "Moondzun" in Sapporo, and many others. -06D-

 

Fire in  Heydar Aliyev Center

Strong fire occurred in the Heydar Aliyev Center on the same-name avenue in Baku.  The cause of the fire is unknown.

This building was built recently, designed by renowned British architect Zaha Hadid.

According to eyewitnesses, the flames rising high into the sky and all the vicinity  is covered with black smoke.--0-
