Head of AMAY Abdulla Abdullayev Sentenced to Thirteen Years in Prison
The Baku Court of Grave Crimes today sentenced the head of the largest shopping center of Baku, AMAY, Abdulla Abdullayev to 13 years in prison. The court recognized him guilty under Articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement) and 308.2 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
The rest of the defendants in the case received 3 years in prison on probation.
The prosecutor asked for 14 years in jail for Abdullayev and to sentence the rest of the accused to 9-10 years of imprisonment.
Abdullayev denied the charges and called the actions of the investigation biased. -06D--

As part of the struggle against illegal migration in Baku city, operative actions were carried out at different addresses. The Interior Ministry reports that employees of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration identified and detained 34 foreigners without documents giving the right to reside and stay on the territory of Azerbaijan.

During the operation of the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 5 members of an organized group engaged in drug trafficking were detained. All of them have previous convictions: Bahlul Ismayilov, Royal Aliyev, Khayal Aliyev, Samir Aghayev, and Ali Mammadli.
