The head of the Center for Monitoring of political prisoners, a former "prisoner of conscience" Elshan Hasanov today was arrested at a border checkpoint "Bilasuvar" when leaving for treatment in Iran. First the guards on duty, sergeant, refused to pass through the border, referring to a certain decision by the Ministry of Justice in 2013.
For participating in an opposition rally April 2, 2011 Hasanov was sentenced to imprisonment. In 2012, he was released, and traveled to Georgia. According to Hasanov, the guards subjected him to a humiliating search, stripped to their underwear. But suddenly everything changed, after the intervention of officers of the frontier. The officers said they knew Hasanov and missed it across the border.
