Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) on the case of the teacher Azizov, "prisoners for life" and presidential elections

On Wednesday, Azizov presented to the court of the Nizami district of Baku a video recording a visit by activists of the KLO in the 220th school. Do you consider yourself responsible for the fact that the young teacher is left without work and cannot feed the family?- Indeed, we visited this school and held an explanatory conversation with R. Azizov, suggesting that he stop the propaganda of the Azerbaijani-Armenian friendship in the classroom. Azizov claimed that he was doing the right thing and would continue in the same spirit. We tried to explain to him our position, but he did not want to understand. Azizov can adhere to any personal views, but his political beliefs should not be a topic of lessons, because the teacher is entrusted with raising children. Our conversation with the teacher and the headmaster was ethical, there was no violence against them. We filmed the conversation on videotape and claim that we adhered to the ethical framework.Perhaps Azizov's dismissal is caused by a campaign in social networks, whose participants are unhappy with the methods of his teaching. And the school leadership took into account this circumstance. The KLO cannot interfere in the relations within the educational institution and the school should not make decisions based on the demands of the public. We just brought our position, and Azizov's dismissal is the choice of the director, to whom we did not exert pressure.- We are on the eve of Novruz national holiday, and in May 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani People's Republic will be celebrated. They say that there can be liberation for life prisoners. What is known about this?- We held a meeting of the working group of the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Life-Prisoners and asked the authorities to take into account the requests of "life-members", if there is an amnesty or pardon in connection with Novruz. The members of the pardoning commission claimed in the press that this category of convicts could fall under the presidential decree on pardon. But we do not feel real steps yet.In Gobustan prison there are lifelong convicts who are there 21-22 years old, seriously ill, even unable to move, former riot police. Some are recognized as political prisoners. In the nineties they were condemned to the death penalty, which in 1998 was replaced by life imprisonment. But the replacement of the penalty was illegal, outside the court. In world practice and Azerbaijani legislation, the death penalty is replaced by a long-term imprisonment, then it was 15 years in prison. At us the death penalty was retrained for life imprisonment. We consider this punishment unjust and insist on amnesty or pardon of these people. They served their punishment in full. We were informed that the appeal of the committee will be taken into account.- When I.Aliyev unexpectedly postponed the presidential elections on April 11, they said that this was done so that the Karabakh talks continued after the March (02.02.18) presidential elections in Armenia. In other words, since the middle of April, the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be able to continue successful negotiations on the Karabakh settlement, reportedly. Do you agree with this version?- We do not believe in the success of negotiations with the Armenians. Russia, as the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, has not changed its stance on Karabakh. Also, the USA is the second co-chair of the Minsk Group. Moreover, the head of Nagorno-Karabakh Bako Sahakyan was received in Washington, even arranged for him a reception at a high level in the Congress. This is the first such case, perhaps we will hold a protest action in this regard. All this testifies to the meaninglessness of the negotiation process, events say that there will be no result. On the contrary, possibly the president postponed the elections on April 11 to start war against the aggressor. We do not see any other way to return Karabakh.
