Mammad Ibrahim Started Hunger Strike in Custody
Baku / 28.09.18 / Turan: The imprisoned adviser to the Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Mammad Ibrahim, started a hunger strike in prison No. 16. He protests against his imprisonment in the punishment cell two days before the end of his term of imprisonment. This was reported by his son Turan Ibrahim.
He recalled that on September 27 his father was imprisoned in a punishment cell allegedly because of the discovery of a knife under his pillow.
In turn, the head of the public relations department of the Penitentiary Service, Mehman Sadigov, responding to the request of Turan, said the convicts are periodically searched. During the next such event, a piercing-cutting object was found under Mammad Ibrahim"s pillow. After that, Ibrahim was imprisoned in the penalty cell and an investigation was launched, he said.
The information about the imprisonment of M. Ibrahim in the punishment cell aroused indignation among activists in social networks. Many believe that a provocation was committed against Ibrahim not to release him to freedom.
Recall that Ibrahim was arrested on September 30, 2015 and subsequently convicted under Article 221.2.2 (hooliganism with resistance to police) of the Criminal Code for 3 years imprisonment. He is recognized as a political prisoner by human rights activists. -06D-
