Martyrs Complain about Discrimination
Baku / 23.10.18 / Turan: Representatives of families of about 100 martyrs today held a protest rally in front of the Milli Majlis. They complain about not paying them the due compensation for the loss of the breadwinners who died defending the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
In the spring of this year, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the payment of one-time compensation to the families of persons killed or missing in action in defense of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in 1991-97 in the amount of 11 thousand manat.
Compensation began on October 9. However, many families were denied compensation on the pretext that they received funds in the past. Complaints of citizens to state bodies are not considered.
Families have already held a rally in front of the parliament on October 16 and today they came again. The head of the parliamentary social policy committee, Hadi Rajabli, came out to them.
According to the participant Sevinj Guluzadeh, the deputy began to assure them that the issue is being studied and the problem will be resolved over the next two years.
"When I asked why the question was not studied when the document was prepared, he left without answering," said Guluzadeh.
