Media Review for November 23

The country's social and economic development, the situation in pawnshops, and the causes of food poisoning are topics of today's media.

The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the socio-economic development of the country. The author talks about numerous programs and their real results.

Over the past 16 years, growth in the economy was 3.2 times, industrial potential increased 3 times, foreign exchange reserves exceeded $ 50 billion, $ 270 billion was invested in the economy, and more than 15 thousand km of roads were built. In view of the creation of new branches of production, GDP increased by 2.5 times, and industrial production - by 3 times.

The Redaktor.az website discusses with the expert Ilham Azizov the situation with pawnshops and loans issued by them through gold jewelry. These loans are two times lower than the real value of gold. As a result, the plight of citizens is further exacerbated. Often, the owner of a pawnshop disappears with the pledged gold.

The activities of pawnshops are regulated by law, and the Financial Markets Supervision Authority. According to the law, pledged things are fully insured by the pawnshop organization in favor of the client.

The website Modern.az discusses cases of food poisoning with an expert. In stores, the situation with food is deplorable. Control of expired products is poor.

The Food Safety Agency raids seizing old products and hands them over to sellers who return them to their suppliers. The latter, changing the label and date, re-deliver the same product to stores.
