Media Review for October 16
The website Redaktor.az discusses Turkey's participation in the negotiations on the Karabakh settlement. Turkey closed its borders with Armenia after it occupied the areas around Karabakh, especially Kelbajar. A condition was put forward that in order to open the borders, Armenia must withdraw its troops from the occupied territories. Therefore, Turkey must definitely take part in the negotiations, and its opinion on the conflict was known from the outset. Turkey plays no less role than Russia and it has leverage.
The website Metbuat.az comments on the situation with Hadrut, after the capture of which the main part of the military mission was completed. This means strengthening the Azerbaijani army in the southern direction of Karabakh.
The conquest of Hadrut means that the strategic heights in the vicinity, especially the Ergunesh mountain range, are already under the control of the Azerbaijani army. The Azerbaijani army strengthened its positions in the direction of Fuzuli.
Hadrut is also important for conducting military operations in the direction of Lachin and Shusha.
The website Müsavat.com writes about the interview of Ilham Aliyev to the Turkish channel NTV on October 15.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov is against Turkey's participation in the negotiations, since the positions of Russia and Turkey on the Karabakh issue do not coincide. However, President Aliyev did not want to comment on this issue, noting that it is necessary to take into account the existing realities, and they are so that today it is impossible to resolve any issues in the region without Turkey's participation.
